Rebecca Balshaw: Mediterranean Dreams on the Toowoomba Runway
The Toowoomba Fashion Festival 2026 was a whirlwind of creativity, and we are still buzzing from the incredible energy of Runway 1.
We are thrilled to now share the magnificent moments captured from Rebecca Balshaw’s stunning collection, a highlight that transported the audience straight to the sun-drenched coasts of Europe.

Rebecca Balshaw unveiled a 5-piece resort and vacation wear collection designed specifically for young adult women, aiming to make them feel confident, elegant, and chic. Rebecca’s design journey began with her final collection development last year, while she was enrolled in Negotiated Concept of Fashion One. Her inspiration was sparked just a few months prior, during an amazing holiday in Europe. The breathtaking architecture, the distinct Mediterranean aesthetic, and the beautiful buildings and houses across Italy, Spain, and Greece left Rebecca truly inspired. Her vision was a tribute to the joyful scenes she witnessed; couples on honeymoons, groups of friends, and families enjoying those wonderful, treasured locations.
The collection itself is a masterclass in combining structural integrity with feminine fluidity. It drew inspiration from iconicdesign houses such as Zimmerman, AJE, Chanel, Simone Rocha, and Oscar Dela Renta. A common thread through these influences, and brilliantly integrated into Rebecca's work, is the use of floral elements and structural designs that are carefully crafted to give the garment shape and accentuate the female physique. These are pieces made to celebrate and uplift women.
One of the standout technical achievements of the collection, as noted by Rebecca herself, was the incorporation of new skills: specifically, beading. She skillfully utilised beads as an element of design in three out of the five runway garments, adding a layer of complex and unique texture to the clothing. The overall vision for her label is focused on creating women's clothing that has elements of complex and unique textures and structures, ensuring every woman feels uplifted, confident, chic, and stylish.
The presentation of Rebecca’s collection was met with immense enthusiasm, and the post-event buzz has confirmed the commercial appeal of her resort wear looks. She proudly chose to take a bow at the conclusion of her showcase. We look forward to seeing this collection launch and transform resort wear wardrobes across Australia and beyond.
